Brands Using Vine & Rocking it
Vine has exploded onto the scene and revolutionized the way we share media with our friends on social media. Vine is a smart phone application integrated with Twitter that allows you six seconds to create a video. Then once published your short clip will continue to loop for as long as you stay on the screen.
Six seconds may not seem like any time at all, but brands are taking full advantage of these micro-movies and creating viral videos that have people talking, creating a huge buzz for their companies. These vines below are from companies who have dived into Vine and are totally rocking it!
1. Oreo
With Oreo always being at the forefront of social media, it is no surprise that they are dominating vine with their six second videos ranging from new recipes to flash mobs in New York City. Oreo is a company that has not only used social media in real time (see their genius Tweet and resulting ad during the Super Bowl blackout), but also a company that has a clearly thought out strategy to building an online presence and community.
2. Urban Outfitters
For a clothing retailer with an already well-established brand personality, Urban Outfitters’ Vine strategy really takes the cake. From showcasing new products to DIYs to amusing videos, Urban Outfitters understands what its audience wants to watch on Vine. Even those who don’t shop at the store would be entertained by a 6 second staring contest with a cat. The retailer even had one of the first Vine contests. Teaming up with Converse, they hosted #yourchucks where the user who best demonstrated a day in the life of their Chucks won a trip across the country.
3. Taco Bell
A Vine about greasy tacos doesn’t appeal to all, but you have to hand it to Taco Bell for a cooler-than-usual advertisement. The company embraced Twitter’s snack-size video service to build appetites ahead of the release of its Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos. Taco Bell has been using the power of Vine to introduce new products or to give sneak peeks to what they have in store for the future.
4. General Electric
With stop-motion videos quickly becoming the biggest trend on Vine, General Electric rocks it out with this chemically balance coffee clip. General Electric has created the goal of getting people more involved and excited with science. If you were to visit GE’s vine profile you will find most clips are action packed with funky science hacks and tricks.
5. Lowes
Home improvement tips in six seconds? Lowes has your back. Unlike previous Vines from brands, these are designed to be useful. The effort, called “Lowe’s Fix in Six,” offers simple, everyday improvements that consumers will want (hopefully) to share with others. The subjects range from cleaning rusty knives to keeping squirrels away from your plants.
But Not All Have Embraced Vine…
Starbucks has over 70,000 followers and yet not a single post. The client base for Starbucks is so strong and large that Starbucks is missing out on a gigantic opportunity. Starbucks, just think about this, you post a vine on your profile of a warm steamy cup of coffee, filled to the brim as you showcase a design into the foam of the cup, causing mouths all over the country drooling at the sight. All I’m saying is: Think about it…
